The young people of the Community of Madrid up to 14 years old will travel for free in the transport network of the region. This was announced this Tuesday by the Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM), after the Board of Directors of the company approved to extend the free travel card for children up to that age, taking advantage of the Ministry of Transport aids.
Until now, this pass -the green card- covered transport costs only for children between 4 and 6 years old (its validity ended the same day they turned 7). In the next age bracket, from 8 to 14, the price was €8.
This measure -funancincicon- will come into force on July 1, 2025 and will benefit, according to CRTM estimates, some 600,000 young people. On the other hand, the free travel pass for the over 65s, financed by the Community of Madrid, will be maintained.

Right now the discounts in force in the Community of Madrid -after a brief period of time during which it seemed that they were not going to go ahead- cover 60% of the price of monthly public transport season tickets and 50% in the case of the multi-journey card.
