For years, the neighborhood has been fighting for this, and it is finally going to become a reality: the residents of the Rejas neighborhood (San Blas-Canillejas) will have a commuter train station. This week, Adif put out a bid for the construction of the future Las Rejas station—along with another in Campo de las Naciones—worth over two million euros.
This new infrastructure, which will improve public transportation service in the area, is planned for the site of the former O’Donnell freight station. It is precisely here where neighborhood associations have been demanding for years the opening of a stop that would also serve passengers: until now, trains have passed through without stopping.
Before construction begins on this future Las Rejas commuter station, the project will undergo a feasibility study, following which “the best possible solution” will be chosen and the final configuration of both this station and the one to be built near IFEMA will be determined.
Once operational, the Las Rejas station will serve residents of the neighborhood, the former Ciudad Pegaso, and local points of interest such as the Plenilunio shopping center.
This project, Adif explains, is part of efforts to improve the functionality of the Hortaleza-San Fernando de Henares section, enhancing public transportation options in the neighborhoods adjacent to what they call “the outer line,” which runs between Chamartín and the Corredor del Henares.
The location of the Campo de las Naciones station

In addition to the Las Rejas commuter station, as mentioned, another station is planned for the area around IFEMA: it will be the Campo de las Naciones station.
As currently planned, the future station will be located between Ribera del Sena and Ribera del Loira streets.
