Delicacies created by Michelin stars stored in jars. This is one of the greatest treasures hidden in the Teresa Huertas butter shop (Calle Fortuny, 12), a grocery store linked to the Coque restaurant: the family project of the Sandoval family.
A butter shop with a woman’s name
The butter shop is a tribute to Teresa Huertas, the mother of the Sandoval brothers. The matriarch symbolizes the essence of Coque from its beginnings until today. The restaurant, which offers a wide gastronomic offer in its more than 1,000 square meters, has won three Repsol Suns, two Michelin stars and three M in the Metrópoli Guide, awards that have put the business on the list of the most famous restaurants in the city.
A gourmet paradise
Mantequería Teresa Huertas opened its doors in June of this year. It did so with a strong commitment to the traditional, for the snacks of a lifetime and the ingredients with which they are usually made. It has everything from fresh produce (vegetables) to canned stews prepared by the Coque team.
On the wooden shelves lining the walls of the store we see the Sandoval’s favorite sauces; spices; pickles; sausages; cheeses; wines; nuts; breads and sweets handmade by professional chefs. Thus, the buttery is presented as a temple of gourmet in Chamberí, one of the districts with more gastronomic culture of the capital.
It is also a perfect place to surprise with a delicatessen at Christmas dinners, and for a more than competitive price: Sandoval brand casseroles are around 10 euros. At the moment, the store does not have an online sales service, but it has very accessible opening hours: it is open morning and afternoon, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00 every day except Sunday, when it is closed.
