It is a list that keeps growing, Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid are putting the capital in the spotlight of world gastronomy. It’s no wonder that food is gaining more and more weight among the reasons why tourists visit Madrid.
Although it is also difficult to resist Madrid’s charm, the city’s Michelin-starred restaurants such as DiverXo, Coque or Ramón Freixa have laid the foundations for a very attractive gastronomic scene that continues to grow. This year, the list is joined by three new restaurants in Madrid montia is incorporated again and Cebo and Kabuki lose their stars, bringing the total number of Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid to twenty-four.
1. Yugo the Bunker ⭐
The symbiosis of experience and product quality can only result in one thing: one of the best gastronomic evenings whatever your gastronomic background. Yugo the Bunker replicates the experience of eating in a Japanese bunker and brings together some of the best cuts of fish that can be found in Spain: the sea bass belly nigiri or the Ora king salmon usuzukuri are likely to generate a full-fledged stendhalazo in the diner.

2. DSTaGE ⭐⭐
The urban and casual image of this restaurant perfectly portrays its chef, Diego Guerrero. His desire to be close to the customer is evident on the stage, where what happens in the kitchen is visible to the diners. The acronym that gives it its name is a reflection of its claim: Days to smell, taste, love, grow & enjoy. This same essence is also embodied in its gastronomic offerings, which, free of ties, combines elements of Spanish, Mexican and Japanese cuisine. It offers the tasting of its dishes in two types of menu: the Dstage, composed of 15 dishes, and the Denjoy, for 18. All this resulted in its success, which was not repealed. Just 8 months after opening its doors to the public in 2014, DSTAgE became one of Madrid’s Michelin-starred restaurants.

3. Deessa ⭐⭐
Quique Dacosta’s first restaurant in Madrid, whose cuisine is headed by Ricard Tobella, has not been without success. Received his first Michelin star in the last edition of the awards. Your scenario could not be better. Located in the Alfonso XIII lounge, Deessa is in charge of the gastronomic offer of one of the most iconic hotels in Madrid, the Mandarin Oriental Ritz and overlooks its gardens. However, the greatest privilege is to sit at their private table for 10 people, the ‘Hidden Table’, which means a privileged view of the hustle and bustle of the kitchen and the opportunity to meet the chef. Its offer is based on two tasting menus, both impregnated with the essence of the Mediterráneo. On the one hand, it has the Quique Dacosta Historical Menu, which compiles his most emblematic dishes, and on the other hand, the QDRitz Contemporary Menu, which is composed of a list specially designed for this establishment.

4. Paco Roncero Restaurant ⭐⭐
Its previous name, La Terraza del Casino, referred to its spectacular location, the highest floor of the Casino de Madrid. In fact, from its terrace you can enjoy some of the best panoramic views of the city. However, its interior dining room is no slouch either, with a colorful and geometric decoration that has nothing to envy to the exterior. They describe their gastronomic offer as a sensory experience, captivating for the quality of their raw material and for their fusion of some of the great classics of international cuisine. Its dishes can be tasted in two menus: the Affirmation or the Vindication. Considered one of the best in Spain, Paco Roncero has also his own cooking school in the city.
Calle de Alcalá, 15 (Downtown)
💶 Menus between 95€ y 210€
5. Ramón Freixa Madrid ⭐⭐
The two Michelin stars are in addition to the other recognitions of chef Ramón Freixa, who is also widely recognized internationally. Located in the heart of the salamanca neighborhood its space, divided into a main dining room, a private dining room and a terrace, makes this restaurant a temple of luxury. As far as its gastronomic offer is concerned, it is based on the tandem of tradition and vanguard. The product is at the center of the menu, which varies according to the season. Drinking also plays a leading role. Specifically, it highlights its wine pairing, with Gil Rovira as sommelier.
Calle de Caludio Coello, 67 (Salamanca district)
💶 Menus between 95€ y 180€
6. Smoked Room ⭐⭐
Six months old and two Michelin stars. That is the background of Smoked Room, the latest project of Malaga-born chef Dani García. Coated in elitism and seating only fourteen people, Smoked Room (located in the Hyatt Hesperia hotel) is enveloped in an aura of exclusivity. Not in vain, the place where it is before was occupied by Santceloni: as if there was something in the ether that facilitates the achievement of excellence.

7. Quimbaya by Edwin Rodríguez ⭐
The other lucky winner of the last Michelin gala. We were able to visit it as soon as it opened and we already warned that it was going to be something to talk about. The prediction fell short and the kitchen of Colombian chef Edwin Rodriguez is tinged with the golden color that stars in the decoration of the restaurant and gives its name to the concept of his kitchen. Quimbaya’s decoration is a tribute, a recognition to one of the most important indigenous civilizations in America. We also include it in a list of the best international restaurants in Madrid.
Calle de Zurbano, 63 (Almagro)
💶 Tasting menu from 85€
8. Gofio ⭐
Having gone to Gofio before it received the Michelin star is a bit like listening to C. Tangana when he was Crema: a sense of pride and yoyalodije comparable to few other vital scenarios. Gofio’s cuisine is changing and its name hides a key and the category that synthesizes its concept. Yes, Gofio is a Canarian restaurant and yes, (sorry for the cliché) it is much more than that.

9. DiverXO ⭐⭐⭐
Dabiz Muñoz’s recognition goes beyond his three Michelin stars. In fact, it was voted the best chef in the world in the last The Best Chef Awards. His originality is probably the main key to his success, as his conception of cooking is far from being confined to any corset. And DiverXO is a living Reflection of this, a culinary journey through the imagination of its chef in which everything is possible. The spectacle it offers goes beyond taste. His dishes, inspired by Asian cuisine , are served in phases, composing a picture before the diner’s eyes. Its tasting menu is, from this 2022, the most Caro in Spain with a price of365€.

10. Zuara⭐
Zuara carries the weight of being in the place where DiverXo used to be, but this does not discourage them and this year they are opening their first star. David Arauz, who already earned a star in 2020 at 99 KO Sushi Bar (now closed), seeks to transfer the simplicity, quality and elegance of sushi to the entire experience of this restaurant.
Calle Pensamiento, 28 (Tetuán)

11. A Barra ⭐
A’Barra, which has been fighting for more than five years in the gastronomic world and only six months less in the Michelin universe (it only needed six months to become one of the Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid), hardly needs any introduction. But just in case you need an introduction: reader, here is one of the best restaurants in Madrid. Sergio Manzano is the chef who leads A’Barra, a restaurant with very specific flags: the extremes, the strong flavors, the power of the umami are almost the common note behind each dish.
Calle del Pinar, 15 (El Viso)
12. RavioXO ⭐
Six months after opening RavioXO, Dabiz Muñóz’s latest restaurant, has earned its first Michelin star. The Madrid-born chef explores pasta in all its forms and temperatures in this restaurant. With his characteristic intention of trying to create his own language, this time through pasta, he brings Italian cuisine closer to Chinese cuisine -something Marco Polo would have supported- although he does not forget Spanish gastronomy either. RavioXO is an affordable option to discover the XO universe.

13. Chiron ⭐
If you had been scrolling for a while until you reached an accessible tasting menu: prize. Chiron’s menu is the cheapest Michelin menu in Madrid. Nobody gives you so much (in quality and quantity) for so little. Chirón, run by the Muñoz Bargueño brothers (Iván is the chef and Raúl is the sommelier), has held the Michelin star since 2013 and revalidates it year after year. It does so through three tasting menus: the Tajuña (64€), the Jarama (86€) and the Tajo (108€).

14. Saddle ⭐
Saddle landed in Madrid in 2019 and only needed a year to make its debut in the firmament of Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid. Due to its commitment to seasonal products, its menu is as variable as it is surprising. At the time of writing these lines, the star product of its gastronomic offer is the truffle, integrated in dishes such as tocinillo de cielo with almond soup and black truffle. Now, in addition, it is complemented by Alberto Fernández’s signature cocktail menu.

15. Corral de la Morería ⭐
In Corral de la Morería art is not only on the stage: it is also found in the kitchen. At the helm is chef David García, trained with great figures in gastronomy such as Martín Berasategui, who before moving to Madrid developed his work at Nerua, the Michelin-starred restaurant at the Guggenheim in Bilbao. A distinction that has been achieved for Corral de la Morería, which also has two Repsol Suns.

16. Greenhouse ⭐
Rodrigo de la Calle is responsible for this gastronomic proposal that can be summarized as “Verde haute cuisine”. A definition supported by a Michelin Star (for “high”) and a Michelin Verde Star (for “green”). At El Invernadero the main ingredients of the dishes are roots, mushrooms, fungi or stems, while meat or fish are used as accompaniments. And it offers options for everyone: omnivores, vegans, vegetarians, celiacs and diabetics.

17. La Tasqueria ⭐
To discover that two concepts as apparently antagonistic as casquería and haute cuisine are not only combinable, but also very compatible. Tripe, pig’s trotters, pig’s feet, pig’s snout, pig’s tail are served at La Tasqueria reinventing traditional recipes, making them attractive both for those whose palate is used to these flavors and for those who have not yet discovered this type of product.
Calle de Duque de Sesto, 48 (Goya)
💶 Menus between 50€ and 78€ per person
18. Lúa ⭐
Tacos of oxtail with carabinero, braised veal cheek with red curry and parmentier, lamb shoulder with honey or cod on cauliflower and spinach foam. These are some of the dishes that make up the menu of Lúa, a restaurant of “Galician tradition and avant-garde” headed by chef Manuel Domínguez, which for its quality has also achieved a distinction that places it on this list of Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid.

19. Gaytan ⭐
From Gaytán, chef Javier’s restaurant, they define themselves as follows: “Gaytán is like a surprise, something you don’t expect and suddenly it comes up to make you feel good.” And we can’t say it’s not true: with a quality proposal and at the same time close, the diners’ experience of seeing live how the dishes are prepared is almost as pleasurable as the actual act of tasting them.

20. Coco ⭐⭐
Mario, Rafael and Diego Sandoval are the third generation of chefs at the helm of Coque, a 1,100 square meter space with four different areas (cocktail bar, wine cellar, kitchen and dining room) where everything has been thought out in detail for an experience that justifies its two Michelin Stars. In the words of its ideologues: “You will need to not only smell and taste, but also touch, feel, imagine and even recreate flavors that you may never have accommodated in your mouth.”
Calle de Marqués del Riscal, 11 (Almagro)

21. Clos Madrid ⭐
Clos’ customers are not diners, they are guests. That is the premise behind this restaurant owned by Marcos Granda, owner of Skina in Marbella. Thus, he opens the doors of his house in Madrid to offer an intimate and personalized atmosphere in which service is of great importance. Also the raw material, of high quality, through which it expresses its commitment to small national producers. As for the dishes, there is no shortage of references to traditional recipes. Its name is a reference to its other protagonist, wine, of which the chef is passionate.

22. Ricardo Sanz Wellington ⭐
The Mediterráneo has never been so close to Japan as in the cuisine of this Madrid restaurant. The Wellington Hotel entrusted master chef Ricardo Sanz with the task of creating a meeting point between the two culinary traditions, and the rest is success. Considered one of the best places to eat sushi in the city, this formula has earned it a place on the list of Michelin-starred restaurants in Madrid. As for the space, it has a sushi bar from which you can see how the chef works. The aforementioned international coexistence is also evident in its drinks menu, which offers, among others, both wines and sakes.
Calle Velázquez, 6 (Salamanca neighborhood)

23. Montia⭐
This restaurant already had a Michelin star, but in 2021 after a fire the restaurant had to close. Now it is reborn with the same strength and culinary spirit, letting its cuisine soak in the environment of San Lorenzo del Escorial. The rustic brought to the XXI century is noticeable in its menu that changes with the seasons, but always maintains a “wild” side.
Juan de Austria Street, 7 in San Lorenzo del Escorial.
long menu 95 € and XL menu 110 €
24. Ugo Chan⭐
Ugo Chan was one of the great openings of 2021 for the gastronomic expert Eric Vernacci in his interview with Madrid Secreto and the Michelin guide agrees with their criteria. Chef Hugo Muñoz seeks constant change in his cuisine with a Japanese soul, flexibility is one of the keys to this cuisine. So much so that its Omakase menu is prepared on the spot taking into account the tastes of the customer, as if it were tailor-made.
