For now, there is no further information beyond an informal post on Reddit—and, for his fans, perhaps the hope that it’s true—: on May 1, Madrid could host a contest to find a lookalike for Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny.
As we mentioned, a Reddit user, UpsetPhilosophy7874, posted (we don’t know if it was an original post or a repost of another hypothetical one) an image showing a photo of Bad Bunny alongside text detailing the contest.
According to that post, the contest to find the person in Madrid who most resembles the singer will take place next Friday, May 1, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Temple of Debod—which , incidentally, has been in the news lately following an episode of vandalism that has reignited the debate over whether or not it should be covered.
The post also includes the following: “If you’re brave enough to think you look like Bad Bunny, come on down.” To which the Reddit user added: “Come on! If possible, someone bring a speaker :)”.
The phenomenon of look-alike contests
These types of contests (known as look-alike contests ) have been gaining popularity in recent times, becoming a mainstream phenomenon in some countries and a viral sensation with no borders on social media.
Without going any further, last March in NUEVAYoL (aka New York), a contest similar to the one now planned for Madrid was held, seeking the person most resembling Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio that they could find in the city. And in October 2025, the same thing happened with another contest, this time in search of Timothée Chalamet’s doppelgänger.
We’ll have to wait a few weeks to find out if a contest like this can draw the same crowd in the capital and if, unnoticed among the crowds of people we pass every day, there are plenty of Bad Bunnies… or if you might even be one of them.
