“How much of others goes with you, how much of you remains in others even if you go away? The quote belongs to Existiríamos el mar by Belén Gopegui -a book we recommended you some time ago here- and that question could also be applied to places. Something that seems to do the new photography exhibition that will host a Madrid hotel in just a few days: Transitando Madrid.
It will be in the hall of the Thompson Hotel Madrid (Plaza del Carmen) where, thanks to Untitled Gallery, you will be able to see the snapshots of this photographic series, a work by Madrid-born José Luis Tejedor. In it the artist “represents the permanence of the spaces in front of the ephemeral movement of its individuals“.
He uses the technique of overexposure to portray the comings and goings of passers-by in some of the most emblematic corners of the city. The exhibition will open at the hotel on April 2 and will be open to the public until May 9, 2025.
Each of the photographs in the exhibition will be accompanied by a QR code that the public will be able to scan to find more information about them, thanks to texts written by Óscar García García -creator of JustMad and co-curator of this exhibition-. All the images are also for sale.
Photography exhibitions that deserve a getaway
There are currently two photography exhibitions that are well worth taking the car to visit on a getaway. On the one hand, we are talking about Ramón Masats. Visit Spainin Segovia: a journey through the legacy of one of the great photographers of the 20th century.
And on the other hand, the colossal work of Cristina García Rodero, Hidden Spain, which can be visited at the Museo Abstracto de Cuenca, a two-hour drive from the capital. Admission to both exhibitions is free.
