This weekend, Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras neighborhood will once again transform into a large open-air market with the latest edition of the Mercado de Las Ranas, which—in the true spirit of other European markets like Camden Town—will bring its charming craft stalls out onto the streets to the delight of visitors and passersby.
Along the route, you can find items such as candles, jewelry, illustrations, ceramics, natural soaps, fashion, accessories, natural cosmetics, and gourmet foods, among others. Admission to the market, by the way, is completely free.
The area where the Mercado de las Ranas is located also offers a chance to explore a historic neighborhood of Madrid, and as you wander through the streets and past the various stalls scattered along them, you’ll find a variety of bars and shops where you can stop for a drink or snack between purchases.
Hours and Location
The Mercado de las Ranas will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., starting at number 2 on Calle Huertas at the corner of Calle Príncipe. It continues along Calle Huertas, at the corner of Calle León, until Calle Huertas at the corner of Costanilla de las Trinitarias.
If you can’t make it to the market this weekend, there will be more opportunities soon: the market is held two Saturdays a month (the first and third).
