In Madrid, there’s a new opportunity for interior design enthusiasts: the historic Hotel Miguel Ángel is renovating its interior, and some of its furniture is going on sale so anyone can take it home. It won’t be at a physical flea market, but through The Hotel Drop by ECO-ONE, a new online “marketplace” that will let you buy pieces from five-star hotels at bargain prices, with very limited quantities available.
The initiative is led by ECO-ONE, a Spanish startup specializing in hotel sustainability and the circular economy, which was already behind the famous flea market at Madrid’s ME Reina Victoria Hotel (more than 2,000 attendees and 43 tons of items saved from ending up in a landfill). Now they are taking it a step further with a different format: periodic, online-only sales featuring small selections of furniture from major hotels undergoing renovations, including the Miguel Ángel, one of the classics on Paseo de la Castellana.
How the sale of furniture from the Hotel Miguel Ángel will work

There is no permanent public catalog, but rather surprise launches. Anyone wishing to participate must register for free on the website eco-onemarkets.com; from there, they will receive access to each sales window, where they will find a limited selection of unique pieces sold while supplies last. The first launch is scheduled for April 23, 24, 25, and 26 (or until stock runs out) and will feature furniture from several luxury hotels, including the Hotel Miguel Ángel, with early access for those who register before the 23rd.
What can you expect? The inventory isn’t listed down to the last detail, but they do emphasize that these are secondhand pieces in good condition, with history and plenty of character: bedroom furniture, armchairs, lamps, side tables, headboards, decorative items… everything that a high-end hotel replaces when it gets a makeover, but which still retains enough quality to fit into a living room or an office with a classic vibe.
Purchases are made online, but all items are picked up in person in Madrid, either at the hotel itself—which is currently undergoing renovation—or at its warehouses, which reduces logistics costs and makes the initiative particularly appealing to those living in the capital or its surrounding areas.
Of course, keep in mind that since this is a secondhand market with limited stock, speed will be key; in this sale, the first to click is the first to take home a piece of the hotel.
