Metro de Madrid has modified the schedule of works on Line 6 and will bring forward the closure of the section between Legazpi and Moncloa. Initially scheduled for September 12, 2025, the cut will finally begin on September 6, a week earlier than scheduled, due to the accelerated pace of the modernization works, as advanced by the newspaper El Mundo. This second closure coincides with the anticipated end of the first phase of the works, which affects the section between Moncloa and Méndez Álvaro.

During this period, both Moncloa and Legazpi will continue to operate as the head of the open sections, although there will be several intermediate stations closed. Free bus and shuttle services will be maintained to facilitate the mobility of users. The Arganzuela-Planetario station will remain closed until December 31, 2025 for technical reasons related to the works.
The works to modernize Line 6 of Metro de Madrid are progressing with important new features both in terms of infrastructure and rolling stock. The Community of Madrid has announced an investment of more than 81 million euros for the acquisition of eight new trains, which will reinforce this circular line, the most used in the network with 400,000 passengers per day. This incorporation is in addition to the ambitious automation and comprehensive renovation plan that is being developed throughout 2025, including two phases of temporary closures to update the tracks, systems and platforms.
Other changes in Metro de Madrid: the season ticket.

The Madrid Public Transport Card updated its image this August after more than a decade with the same design. This renewal responds to the desire to project a more modern and accessible image for the millions of Madrid transport users. The change only affects the design, so the old cards will continue to be valid and both will coexist for a while. The new cards will be issued progressively, mainly to those who purchase or renew their season tickets.
