Columbus Day has gone from a one-day celebration to a week-long celebration in five years. Now the streets are filled with all kinds of activities, with big concerts as the main attraction in the main squares of Madrid. This year the events extend from October 3 to 12, the big day, and the theme will have a special focus on the guest country: Argentina.
One of the most anticipated concerts is that of Cuban artist Gloria Estefan, who is celebrating 50 years in the industry. The rest of the days will feature folkloric exhibitions from different Latin American countries, literary programs, film series, theater and children’s activities to raise awareness of the traditions of the cultures participating in this festival.
And as usual, the Grand Cavalcade along the Gran Vía will be held on October 5 in the afternoon, this time with an unprecedented addition: the United States will participate for the first time and will be the guest country of the next edition.
