The more than 3,000 new affordable rental apartments intended exclusively for young people in the Community of Madrid are closer to becoming a reality: the regional government has just signed the contracts for the companies DeA Capital, Avintia, and San José to build these developments, with construction scheduled to begin as early as 2026.
These projects are the first under the Plan Vive Solución Joven, the Madrid regional government’s initiative to help young people in Madrid become independent “without leaving behind the streets and neighborhoods where they grew up, ” in the words of the Regional Minister of Housing, Transportation, and Infrastructure of the Community of Madrid, Jorge Rodrigo.
The main requirement to be eligible for one of these homes is to be under 35 years of age. Additionally, applicants must use this home as their primary residence and not own any other property in their name anywhere in the country.
On the other hand, when it comes to accessing the housing—which will be distributed across eight municipalities in the region— priority will be given to people who have been registered as residents or who have worked in the chosen municipality for at least three years.
As for the financial aspect, there are restrictions on spending limits: no more than 35% of the household’s annual net income may be allocated to paying the total annual rent.
How will these apartments for people under 35 be distributed in the Community of Madrid?

In total, the developments will comprise 3,352 housing units distributed across eight municipalities as follows:
- 756 in Alcobendas.
- 365 in Arroyomolinos.
- 332 in Colmenar Viejo.
- 308 in Móstoles.
- 303 in Tres Cantos.
- 295 in Loeches.
- 150 in Valdemoro.
- 843 in the capital, in the Valdebebas and Ahijones areas.
