The spot popularly known as “Madrid Río Beach” is back in operation for another year, just in time to provide relief from the heat for Madrid residents with its more than 70 water jets and misters. And the fact is, the options for beating the heat in the capital go beyond municipal pools and those offered by the Community of Madrid.
This facility, located at 140 Avenida del Manzanares— in the Arganzueladistrict —operates only during the summer months. It features three oval-shaped water areas where three different effects alternate: a shallow pool for lying down and soaking, high water jets with changing effects, and clouds of mist.
As for the rest and recreation areas, they cover more than 6,500 square meters and feature hundreds of trees. Admission, by the way, is free.
Madrid Río Beach Hours for Summer 2026
It is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will remain open until September. Starting September 8, the hours will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., and its final closing date will depend on weather conditions.
A child- and youth-oriented idea turned into reality

The origin of the Madrid Río water jets lies in the Children’s and Youth Ideas Contest held in 2005, in which 3,525 schoolchildren from across the city participated. In other words: we owe this refreshing and popular space to the city’s youngest minds.
Despite the popular name by which it is known, whether “beach” or “the jets,” it is an urban fountain that prides itself on its uniqueness and exceptional nature: it is the only one in Madrid where swimming is permitted.
