Three women from Madrid at the helm of Brandy Be have spent the last two years turning the concept of the traditional flea market on its head. Instead of being limited to rows of stalls, their concept is a well-rounded event designed as an experience with a special focus on families. Their events are usually held on Sundays and bring together fashion, home decor, and lifestyle alongside children’s activities such as magic shows, face painting, live music, or DJs, as well as themed editions based on the time of year or special dates.
The project began in Pozuelo and has been growing and spreading throughout the region ever since: first it reached Alcobendas, then Las Rozas, and now it’s finally coming to the heart of Chamberí. Its debut in downtown Madrid will take place on Bravo Murillo Street, where this Sunday, the 5th, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., traffic will be blocked off to transform the stretch into a small open-air festival dedicated to design and independent brands.
The Majadahonda Flea Market in Chamberí
Brandy Be defines itself more as a curated market than a typical flea market. One of its key features is the selection of vendors: they mix the usual stalls found at the classic Majadahonda flea market with emerging projects and small brands, creating a unique blend that, as they explain, is what sets them apart from other similar events. In addition to the Sunday markets—which form the backbone of their operations—they also organize afternoon events and other formats, always with the goal of building a community around the brands and the public.
This first edition in Chamberí won’t feature a food court yet, but future editions will, as Madrid Secreto has been told that the goal is to establish the event as a monthly fixture on the first Sunday of each month (with a break in August) in the area. The idea: to combine shopping, family fun, and great music all in one event. For Sunday, July 5, they’ve announced plenty of new features, guest brands, and a whole host of discoveries to be made right in the heart of Madrid.
