The Public Transport Card is going through a time of rapid change: price increases, a possible new payment method and the digitalization of the card itself which has been underway for a couple of years.
In this transformation that the Metro de Madrid network is undergoing, one of the most eagerly awaited developments for the coming months is the opening of a new Public Transport Card (TTP) management office at Plaza Elíptica station. This initiative responds to the growing demand from users and the need to decentralize the service points, facilitating the management of season tickets and cards in one of the busiest stations in the capital.
The office is expected to open its doors in the first months of 2026, coinciding with the progress of works on line 11 and the growing demand for face-to-face and the growing demand for face-to-face services for season ticket and card management.
Why will the office be installed in Plaza Elíptica?
Plaza Elíptica station, located in the south of Madrid, is already an important interchange between line 6 (circular) and line 11, which is currently undergoing expansion. Line 11, known as Madrid’s future diagonal, is in the process of becoming one of the city’s major mobility hubs, connecting neighborhoods in the southwest with the northeast and adding new key stops such as Madrid Río, Comillas, Palos de la Frontera, Atocha and Conde de Casal.
This expansion, which is progressing at a good pace, foresees the completion of the main works in 2027 and its entry into operation in 2028, with an investment of more than 500 million euros.
