Parking has become a difficult -if not practically impossible- task in many neighborhoods of the capital and spending a minimum of half an hour looking for parking is already a routine for most of the citizens. Faced with this situation, one of the star measures -backed by the modification of the Sustainable Mobility Ordinance (OMS) of September 2021- has been the expansion of the Regulated Parking Service (SER). And today new developments have been announced regarding these SER zones in Madrid.
It has been the delegate of Urbanism, Environment and Mobility of the Madrid City Council, Borja Carabante, who has communicated that the six SER applications operating in the city (namely: El Parking, Telpark, Parking Libre, Easy Park, Parclick and Bip & Drive) are going to incorporate in the second quarter of the year the “desaparcar” option.
Thanks to this feature, drivers will be able to terminate a valid ticket in advance and pay only for the time actually spent parked in the SER zones. The operating mechanism will remain the same as before, but “the amount corresponding to the time remaining on the ticket will be refunded through the application,” explained Carabante.
Neighborhoods that are incorporated into Madrid’s SER zones.
- Comillas (Carabanchel). The measure has the support of more than 2,000 residents. It is expected to come into operation in June.
- ZofĂo (Usera). It is expected to be added during the last quarter of 2025.
This district is the last neighborhood to implement the SER at the request of its residents: MoscardĂł. According to data from the Madrid City Council for the last five years, of the 131 neighborhoods in the capital, the Regulated Parking Service has been implemented in 55.
