Hoyo de Manzanares will live from September 4 to 9, 2025 its Patron Saint Festivities in honor of the Virgen de la Encina, one of the popular events of the Sierra de Madrid. Although on this day the celebrations take place in many municipalities in Madrid, there are some that do it with a special grace, as is the case of this town.
The program, officially presented by the Town Hall, has its own particular traditions and adds some novelty: the famous caldereta is followed by a pyromusical show with drones and fireworks at the closing of the festivities.
The big day is September 7, when the Caldereta Day will be celebrated, recognized as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest. This celebration brings together neighbors and visitors around the Plaza de la Caldereta and its surroundings, with the preparation and mass tasting of this traditional stew of fighting bull meat, a true reflection of the pastoral and livestock culture of the Sierra. Thousands of people come to taste this spoon dish that announces the approach of autumn.
The day also includes parades, popular games such as cucañas and gastronomic contests. The dinner and subsequent verbena, organized by the Association La Caldereta, guarantee one of the most participatory and lively nights of the festivities. It will be followed by the traditional Riego del Vino, which consists precisely in that, in watering everyone who wants to drink some wine.
Pyromusical with drones: innovative closing in Hoyo

On Tuesday, September 9, the festivities will continue in style, literally, thanks to the pyromusical show with 150 drones along with a fireworks display at the Polideportivo Municipal Las Eras. This proposal involves the conjunction of technology and tradition, with luminous choreographies that dance in the sky to the rhythm of the music.
This show partly replaces conventional fireworks, seeking to reduce the noise and environmental impact, and positions Hoyo de Manzanares among the pioneering municipalities in festive innovation in the Community of Madrid.
The program includes parades, opening speech, reveille, street parties, concerts, sports competitions, equestrian performances, culinary competitions, children’s running of the bulls and activities for the elderly. The proclamation will take place on September 4 by the Peña El Botijo on its 50th anniversary. The days before, from August 29 to September 3, the prefiestas are celebrated, with musical events such as the Pop Tour festival, the transhumance of oxen, election of queens and activities between peñas and associations.
