The initiative El Prado by Night will once again open the doors of the art gallery free of charge -with the collaboration of Samsung and Radio 3 – on May 3 at night, just after the hangover from the celebration of the regional festivities. The schedule, as on previous occasions, will be from 20:30h to 23:30h and this time the visit will allow the public of the Prado to contemplate a very special exhibition of El Greco.
The exhibition “El Greco. Santo Domingo el Antiguo”, which is sponsored by the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado, owes its exceptional nature to a specific fact: it brings together, for the first time since its dispersal in 1830, eight of the nine works that El Greco painted for the church of the Monastery of Santo Domingo el Antiguo in Toledo.
On the other hand, visitors will also be able to tour the second floor of the Villanueva building, where the central gallery and the museum’s adjoining rooms are located, with emblematic works such as Las Meninas by Velázquez, The Lavatorium by Tintoretto, Charles V in Mühlberg by Titian and The Three Graces by Rubens.
