F1 is about to arrive in Madrid: From September 11 to 13, Madrid (at IFEMA) will host the Spanish Grand Prix for the first time in 45 years. Thousands of people will attend the event (by the way, if you want to go and don’t have tickets yet, you can get the last ones available here), so traffic in the capital will be disrupted both during the Grand Prix and on the day before and after the event.
All streets closed from September 10 to 14 in Madrid
Here are the roads that will be affected by the arrival of Formula 1® in Madrid:
- Ribera del Sena from the Glorieta de Luxemburgo to the Glorieta de Edimburgo, and also from the latter roundabout to the M-40.
- Vía de Dublín from the Glorieta de Edimburgo to Calle Ariadna and from the intersection of Calle Ariadna to the Glorieta de Sintra.
- Francisco Umbral, from Vía de Dublín past the Pascual Bravo Roundabout, and from that point, the northbound lane until just before the Isidro González Velázquez Roundabout.
- Vía de Dublín roundabout and access to the Vía de Dublín roundabout from Ariadna Street.
- Francisco Umbral Roundabout, with access to the gas station remaining open from the junction with the M-11.
- Pascual Bravo Roundabout and access to the roundabout from Camino Alto de Hortaleza.
- Glorieta de Man

Other traffic and parking changes (September 11–13)
In addition, during the Grand Prix (September 11–13), there will also be traffic restrictions (for both vehicles and pedestrians) in the area around IFEMA, which have been definedas 2 “mobility rings” and 3 “protection zones.”
Traffic Restrictions

Outer Ring Road
These measures will be implemented as a precaution in case of traffic congestion or for public safety reasons. Here are the circumstances under which restrictions would apply:
- Vehicles attempting to approach the venue without an authorized destination.
- Vehicles looking for parking in unauthorized areas.
- Heavy or logistics vehicles that are not bound for the inner ring area and are not properly accredited.
- Through traffic may be rerouted via alternative routes during periods of high demand, traffic congestion, or for public safety reasons.
Traffic control and monitoring points will be located on the following roads (which you can see in detail on the map above): Avenida de Logroño, M-11, M-12, Aníbal González Roundabout, Avenida de las Fuerzas Armadas, Avenida de Manuel Fraga Iribarne, Avenida de Francisco Javier Saínz de Oiza, Bet Figueras, R-2, and M-40.
Inner Ring Road
It will be a traffic-restricted zone with controlled access during the three days of the Spanish Grand Prix.
The perimeter of this security zone is defined by the following roads (outlined in the image above): Vía de Dublín Street, Camino de Sintra, the M-11 Service Road, Alejandro de la Sota Avenue, Fuerzas Armadas Avenue, Francisco Umbral Street, Antonio López Torres Street, Tomás Redondo Street, Vía de los Poblados, Ribera del Sena, Ribera del Loira, the M-40, Consejo de Europa Avenue, and the S.A.R. Don Juan de Borbón y Battemberg Roundabout.
Access to this inner ring will be permitted:
- The general public traveling in private vehicles without accreditation.
- Vehicles attempting to park in the immediate vicinity of the venue.
- Taxis or ride-hailing vehicles outside authorized routes, zones, or conditions.
- Regular delivery vehicles without a pass, time slot, or authorization.
- Vehicles belonging to workers without accreditation.
- Vehicles in transit or passing through without a specific destination.
In addition, preventive road closures may be implemented as needed and would affect the following roads:
- The on-ramps from kilometers 5, 6, and 7 of the M-40, the on-ramps from the M-11 (Exit 5 toward the airport and Exit 7 toward Madrid), as well as the on-ramp from the M-12 to the service road of the M-11.
- The Avenida de las Fuerzas Armadas corridor (north and south) and toward the Las Cárcavas neighborhood.
- The main roads connecting the inner urban area of the Hortaleza district toward the M-40 and the access roads to the inner ring of the circuit (Avenida de los Andes and Calle Silvano).

How to get to Madrid for the 2026 FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER SPANISH GRAND PRIX
To reduce car use and make it easier to get to the MADRING circuit during the 2026 FORMULA 1 TAG HEUER SPANISH GRAND PRIX, EMT Madrid will operate five special free bus routes from Friday, September 11, through Sunday, September 13. These routes will connect strategic points in the city—such as Plaza de Castilla, Avenida de América, Canillejas, the Metropolitano Stadium, and the Nuevos Ministerios area—with the vicinity of IFEMA Madrid and the access points designated for Formula 1®. Service will run every four to seven minutes, depending on the line and time of day.
The Metro will be one of the most recommended options for getting to the venue. Lines 4, 5, and 8 will increase their service by up to 250% during peak times, while Line 8—which connects Nuevos Ministerios with Feria de Madrid—will operate with six-car trains to increase capacity. In addition, passenger information desks will be set up at the Feria de Madrid and Nuevos Ministerios stations, and a special map showing access points to the MADRING circuit and public transportation connections will be distributed.
There will also be additional service on commuter trains, urban and intercity lines, as well as special taxi services. For September 12 and 13, all taxi licenses have been authorized to operate from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday. Two temporary taxi pickup areas will be set up outside the venue: one on Avenida de las Fuerzas Armadas, for access from the north, and another in the parking lots of Juan Carlos I Park, for the south.
