May in Madrid is something else. Not only because the sky gets perfect for the terraces nor because the air seems friendlier, but because it is the month of the big festivities. May 2 marked the Day of the Community of Madrid, and on May 15 comes San Isidro, patron saint of the city, to shake streets, squares … and also markets.
The official programming of San Isidro 2025 has been published today May 6, although there was a preview during the bridge of the 2nd. Among the artists confirmed to give voice to the festivity are Soleá Morente, La Húngara or Locoplaya. But the festival does not stop at the stages and chulapos contests: this year, the markets of Madrid become the epicenter of tradition, sweets and lots of color.
What is celebrated in the Markets of Madrid during San Isidro
From May 9 to 15, Madrid’s markets will be filled with carnations, doughnuts and barrel organs . The San Isidro Market will have chulapas handing out flowers, an organ grinder doing his thing and a couple of dancers performing a chotis. The complete program can be consulted at this link.
The Barceló Market will bet on May 14 for carnations, donuts and double session (morning and afternoon). And in the Ibiza Market, the day of the 14th promises with carnation distribution and a “Cata Castiza” of VIN LA VIE wines that starts at 12:30 in local 8. For its part, the Guzman el Bueno Market will close the calendar with carnation distribution and typical donuts between May 14 and 15.
