Madrid is gearing up to host one of the biggest musical events of the fall. Shakira will perform 12 concerts in the capital between September 18 and October 11 as part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” in a series of shows that will make the city the only European stop on this leg of the tour. Shakira’s concert series will take place over four consecutive weekends and will bring together hundreds of thousands of fans at a temporary venue created especially for the occasion.
The chosen venue is Iberdrola Music, in the Villaverde district, where a large-scale venue dubbed the “Shakira Stadium” has been erected. The venue will have a capacity of more than 50,000 people per night and will be the centerpiece of an experience that goes far beyond a concert: music, gastronomy, dance, fashion, literature, film, and the visual arts will come together in a project inspired by Latin American magical realism.

Macondo Park: An Experience Before and After the Concert

Shakira’s residency will feature its own unique setting called Macondo Park, a themed space inspired by the world of *One Hundred Years of Solitude* and the magical realism associated with Gabriel García Márquez. The venue is organized as a small, temporary city, with eight pavilions, two stages, and a central plaza presided over by a “tree of life.”
Gates will open at 12:00 p.m., and the event will continue into the early hours of the morning. The goal is for the audience to spend a good part of the day inside Macondo, enjoying cultural and recreational activities before the concert begins. In addition to music, activities related to gastronomy, literature, fashion, dance, film, and the visual arts are planned.

How to get to the concerts
The main recommendation is to use public transportation and avoid private cars whenever possible. The Villaverde area will see heavy traffic from attendees before and after each performance, so travel times may be longer than usual.
By Metro, the nearest stations are Villaverde Alto on Line 3 and Los Espartales on Line 12 of MetroSur. From both stations , attendees will need to walk the rest of the way to the entrances designated by the organizers.
On the Cercanías commuter rail, the most convenient stations are Villaverde Alto and San Cristóbal Industrial. The former connects to the Metro and makes it easy to reach the venue from downtown Madrid and other towns connected by the rail network.
If you choose to drive, keep in mind that traffic congestion may occur in the area and parking options will be limited. It’s best not to approach the venue without a confirmed parking spot or permit, to follow the posted signs, and to check traffic updates before setting out.
How to get back from the Shakira concert
Leaving the Shakira Stadium at Iberdrola Music in Villaverde requires planning due to the large crowds and the distance on foot to public transportation. The most direct option is the free EMT shuttle from Gran Vía de Villaverde to Atocha, with a stop at Legazpi, available from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.; you can also take the Metro from Villaverde Alto, about a 20-minute walk away, with additional service on lines 3 and 12.
Getting home via the commuter rail may be difficult if you stay for the entire concert, as it ends around 11:45 p.m., while city and night bus lines have more limited capacity. For taxis or ride-hailing services, it’s best to arrange a pickup point away from the venue due to traffic restrictions and potential mobile network congestion.
