With the arrival of the month of December, snowfall warnings also arrive in the Community of Madrid: the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow warning – the maximum, indicating risk – for the accumulation of snow in 24 hours expected in the mountains of Madrid.
The warning was activated at 2 am this Tuesday, December 2, due to expected snow accumulations of up to 5 cm at altitudes above 1,400 meters, and will be deactivated at 1:59 pm.
However, towards the end of the day, from 21h, the warning will come back into force with the same level of risk – yellow – until 23:59h, by accumulation of the same amount of snow in 24h: what changes this time is that the snow level drops slightly to about 1,200 meters.
The probability of both episodes, according to the agency’s predictions, ranges between 40% and 70%.
Snow warning continues on Wednesday
The snow warnings in the Community of Madrid will not end this Tuesday: on Wednesday, December 3 will continue the yellow warning for accumulations of up to 5 centimeters of snow until 8:59 am, with the elevation already located at 1,100 and 1,200 meters.
These warnings disappear completely on Thursday, December 4.
