Almost as if trying to make the return to routine more bearable, some of the most original festivals of the Community of Madrid can be marked with a red circle on the calendar during this first week of September. Among them, the one that this Sunday 8th will take different boats to star in the Pirate Descent of the Tagus in Aranjuez.
It will be from 11 am when attendees will be able to see completely free of charge this original water ride down the Tagus – in the section between the old suspension bridge and the bridge of Barcas – which this 2024 celebrates its 43rd edition. The goal, once again, remains that of finding the most original and creative boats among the participants.
These curious vessels are built by the participants themselves and, since the only limit or requirement established by the regulatory rules has to do with their height, the design and theme are free and leave images like the ones you can see below.
In total, there will be ten boats that will be awarded with amounts that ranging between 1,000 € and 100 € and the decision will depend on a popular jury and a technical jury.
The Mutiny Festival of Aranjuez
The Pirate Descent of the Tagus is part of the program of the Festivities of the Mutiny of Aranjuez, declared of International Tourist Interest, which this year have started this Wednesday, September 4 and will run until Sunday.
Among the scheduled activities, one of the most outstanding and expected by the riparians is the staging of the historical events of the Mutiny of Aranjuez in 1808. The representation will be this Saturday, September 7 at 21:30h in the Plaza de Parejas, with the Royal Palace of Aranjuez as a backdrop.
