You don’t have to leave Madrid to try a good cachopo. Throughout the month of March, the capital will be one of the venues for the 2026 International Competition for the Best Cachopo in the World, in which 10 countries will compete.
In total, 100 restaurants will compete for the prize, 20 of which are located in Madrid, offering the opportunity to try this Asturian recipe. The winner will be announced in Oviedo, the venue for the event, and will be chosen by a jury of experts in the gastronomy of this region.
Cachopo with truffle, wild boar, and more

There will be four different categories: meat cachopo , fish cachopo, gluten-free cachopo, and vegan cachopo. Thus, all kinds of creations can be sampled, from a cachopo stuffed with the most expensive cheese in the world, a Cabrales cheese worth €37,000, to recipes with black pudding, trout, wild boar stew, seaweed, fruit, cheetos batter, and even gold flakes.
Until March 31, each restaurant will offer its dish accompanied by a drink, with a choice of a bottle of cider or two drinks. In addition, there will be the option of home delivery, which may incur a surcharge if the establishment so decides.
In Madrid, you can find options starting at €28.50 for cachopo with a side dish and drink. But to discover all the combinations and where to find them, it’s best to check the list on their website, which includes all the restaurants and their offerings.
Asturian cuisine

The International Competition for the Best Cachopo in the World is organized by the Cachopo Guide, which serves as a reference for lovers of the dish, and is celebrating its 15th edition this year.
As explained on their website, this gastronomic event allows to promote Asturian cuisine, “combining tradition, culinary excellence, and clear media coverage.”
In fact, on this occasion, they have decided to go beyond cachopo and have launched another simultaneous competition: the International Competition for the Best Fabada and Other Spoon Dishes, which will also include Asturian pote and tripe.
