Niña Pastori will be one of the major surprises of Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Madrid: the flamenco singer from Cádiz will perform before the Pontiff at an event far removed from grand cathedrals and stadiums, in the heart of the Lucero neighborhood, within the Latina district. Her performance will conclude the Pope’s meeting with homeless people at the CEDIA 24-hour center run by Cáritas Madrid, one of the most symbolic stops on the papal trip, scheduled for June 6–9, 2026.
The Archdiocese of Madrid has confirmed that onSaturday, June 6, at 6:00 p.m., Pope Leo XIV will visit the CEDIA 24-hour center, a Caritas facility dedicated to the comprehensive care of homeless people. There, he will meet directly with the center’s clients and staff, accompanied only by a small entourage and leaders of the Madrid Church, before heading to the main event with young people in Plaza de Lima.
It will be at the end of that visit that Niña Pastori takes the stage, in a format that the organizers describe as a “generous” performance to add “color” to an event marked by the vulnerability and dignity of those living on the streets. The repertoire has not yet been detailed, but the Archdiocese notes that the artist previously sang an Ave Maria before John Paul II at Cuatro Vientos in 2003, which adds a nod to continuity among generations of pontiffs.
The Pope in the Heart of Madrid

Niña Pastori’s performance is part of a particularly intense day: that same night, Pope Leo XIV will participate in a large vigil with young people in Plaza de Lima, next to the Bernabéu, where groups such as Hakuna, Siloé, and Besmaya will perform before the Pope’s dialogue with those in attendance. Following the vigil, more than twenty museums, churches, and foundations in Madrid will remain open late into the night to provide spaces for prayer, silence, or contemplation of sacred and contemporary art.
The full agenda in Madrid also includes a Corpus Christi Mass at Cibeles, addresses to the Spanish Parliament, meetings at the Bernabéu and the Movistar Arena, and a visit to the Almudena Cathedral.
