Leaving everything to the last minute was never good and you know it, that’s why you already have your tickets for Candlelight. This will be your first Candlelight concert and, because you like to do things ahead of time, you want to plan ahead and avoid surprises. “Will I be able to take pictures, will I have any problems if I go in athletic wear?” Find the answers to those and more questions that have come up for you in this guide, where we explain point by point the five things you should know before going to the musical experience of the moment.
1. Knowing the history and curiosities of the stage enriches (even more) the experience.
When Candlelight chooses a stage for some of its incredible musical evenings, it’ s not a matter of chance. All its locations in Madrid (and in any city) are, in one way or another, architectural gems, emblematic corners or authentic treasures full of history and curiosities. For example, did you know that one of the entrances to the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid was once a bank safe? Or that the rooftop of the Hotel Wellington is home to the world’s largest urban vegetable garden?
2. No dress code
At Candlelight the love of music is shared, but not the style of dress. At these concerts there is no dress code and, therefore, the decision of what to wear is totally free. The important thing is that you feel at ease, regardless of whether you prefer to dress elegantly – in the style of Vivaldi’s time – or in a casual and trendy way. You take out of your closet what makes you feel comfortable, and happy!
3. Can you take pictures?
Only during the designated times. And when is that? Well, before the show starts and during the last song. The musicians will let you know so that those of you who wish to take out your cell phones and record or take pictures of the performance, keeping a small souvenir of the evening. Remember to turn off the flash and by the way also to mute notifications, do not go to break the magic unintentionally.
4. The program is tentative
Although the repertoire may be subject to change, there is nothing to worry about. The song list is carefully selected so that the program not only flows during the 65-minute concert, but also includes the artist’s best compositions.
5. Does the audience usually sing along?
It depends a lot on the tribute and the atmosphere that reigns during that session, although the most common is that nobody sings. It’s annoying to hear someone off-key or humming in made-up English, and yes, we all know that sometimes you can’t help but give it your all when it comes to world hits, but you can always hum the chorus softly!
Knowing all this, you just need to walk through the doors of Candlelight and fall in love with the experience that has already conquered more than 180 cities around the world. Enjoy your favorite music like never before, let yourself be carried away by the magic of the environment and share this sensory oasis with a Candlelight gift card. You’re sure to win!
