Although it is becoming increasingly difficult to find them, there are still places and occasions in Madrid where you can buy a good selection of artisanal, organic, and locally sourced foods directly from the producer—without intermediaries. The Planetario Municipal Farmers’ Market is one such place, and the event will take place this Sunday, May 3.
In total, under the awnings at the corner of Avenida del Planetario and Calle Meneses (across from the former Angel Nieto Museum, and near both the IMAX and Tierno Galván Park), 36 stalls run by artisanal and organic producers will be set up.
Among the products on offer, you’ll find dairy products, preserves, jams, meats, vegetables, olives and olive oils, wines, craft beer, fresh pasta, smoked foods, empanadas and pastries, prepared meals, coffee, and artisanal chocolates and ice cream.
On the other hand, the Planetario Farmers’ Market is a sustainable market, so you’ll need to bring your own reusable bag or cart to carry your purchases.
Free concerts at vermouth time
In addition to the stalls, the market atmosphere comes alive starting at 12 p.m. with various activities such as themed events, product tastings, and children’s workshops.
Starting at 12:30 p.m., and hosted by Zarro, you can enjoy live music every Sunday.
Schedule and dates for the Planetario Farmers’ Market
The Farmers’ Market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For those who cannot attend this Sunday’s event, there will be another opportunity on May 17: this market is held on the first and third Sundays of each month, except in July and August.
Please note that in the event of heavy rain or high temperatures, some markets may be canceled. Information can be found on the Madrid Productores Instagram page.
