If you haven’t seen any announcements for a new edition of Book Night this year , you may have missed the fact that in 2026 , the nighttime event has evolved into Madrid Book Week, a literary festival that culminates this Sunday, April 26, with its main event in Plaza de España.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., this central square will host a varied program offering different ways to engage with literature and books, such as a group reading with a community hot chocolate gathering, conversations between writers, concerts, a literary performance, and a children’s area with workshops.
In addition, throughout the day there will be a mini book fair organized by the Madrid Booksellers Association, where you can discover new releases, purchase books at a 10% discount, get recommendations, or attend a book signing.
Program for the main event of Madrid Book Week

- From 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Group reading with a community hot chocolate gathering.
- From 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Literary activity: Reading to Re-enchant the World, with Blanca Lacasa, María Hesse, Lorenzo Silva, and Manuel Vilas. It can be followed live via streaming at this link.
- From 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM: Family concert by the Billy Boom Band.
- From 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM. Literary Performance: Who is Celeste Baker? Guitar: Luis Sansó Gil (Luichi). Celeste Baker: Lourdes Hernández (Russian Red).
- From 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM. Concert for all ages: Alberto & García.
- From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Children’s area with workshops: storytelling (ages 0–3), story performances (ages 3–6), and the big scavenger hunt (ages 6–15). Advance registration is required via this link.
- From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Mini Book Fair. Organized by the Madrid Booksellers Association. At 11 a.m., book signing by Iria and Selene (first come, first served).
Book Week in bookstores and libraries

In addition to the main event at Plaza de España, many bookstores and libraries will host activities on Sunday, April 26, as part of this initiative: from family puppet shows to workshops, afternoon gatherings with DJs, literary gatherings, and even the performance “Poetry, Techno, and Tenderness” by the artist Zahara.
