20 minutes from the center of Madrid there is a town that lives Halloween as if it were the scene of a Tim Burton movie.
Paracuellos de Jarama has managed to turn the celebration into one of the most spectacular and original thanks to the involvement of all its neighbors, who decorate houses, stores and streets to transform the environment into a great Map of Terror where creativity and fear are the protagonists.
Next Friday, October 31, Paracuellos will once again dress in fear with a contest of passages in private homes, decorated facades, store windows and lots of surprises, in an edition that encourages the participation of the whole community. Neighbors who want to sign up can register their address on the Map of Terror until October 14, specifying whether they will offer “trick or treat” and at what times they will be available to receive terrifying visits. As every year, the City Council provides candy to all those who register so that the delivery will be unforgettable and the experience will have that authentic Halloween flavor.
Paracuellos del Jarama: the town that goes all out for Halloween
The jury, composed of members of the local corporation and even children’s subcommittees, will go through the streets, assessing creativity, self-made decorations, the use of sound and light effects, and the involvement of actors in the passages.
Prizes ranging up to 300 € for the best passage, 180 € for the best facade and 100 € for the best trade, are delivered along with diplomas. In addition, there will be contests for family costumes and decorated doors, valued by new child members of the jury and with additional prizes. To participate, just send the photos between October 31 and November 3 to the municipal mail.
Halloween in Paracuellos de Jarama is a real collective party, which comes to compete with the big amusement parks in the region thanks to its homemade terror tunnels, spider webs, pumpkins, lights, tombs and scary characters turn the streets into a passage worthy of any horror blockbuster.
