One of the quintessential July getaways -and a possible destination to take your date to according to Inma Benedito aka Too Match, our trusted dating expert- is undoubtedly Brihuega, and more specifically its lavender fields. The floral stamp in purple tones that gives every summer attracts visitors from different places and getting there from Madrid is easier and more accessible with the Lavender Train.
This is one of the thematic trains that Renfe launches to go and return from Madrid to Guadalajara to witness this natural phenomenon as spectacular as ephemeral.
The departure dates this year will be July 3 and 10 from the stations of Atocha Cercanías (9:42 am) and Madrid Chamartín – Clara Campoamor (9:58 am) with arrival in Guadalajara at 10:35 am.
What does the trip include?
The Lavender Train trip not only includes the round trip on the day, but also guided tours. The first of these is a tour of the town of Brihuega itself, after which free time will be offered to go for lunch (which is at the expense of each unx).
Afterwards, a visit to the Jardín de la Alcarría essential oil distillery is offered, where you can learn about the manufacturing process. The day ends with a visit to the lavender fields at the height of their flowering period.
