Uniqlo is committed to timeless and quality fashion, thus distinguishing itself from textile giants such as Sparc Group or Inditex, which put on-trend design above the longevity of garments. Although it cannot be considered a high-end brand, its minimalist collections and commitment to sustainable production make Uniqlo a very attractive option for those looking for versatile and durable clothing.
The Japanese sustainable fashion company has just announced a major expansion in Europe: the opening of 15 stores between 2024 and 2025. One of them will be at number 85 Paseo de la Castellana, the building that houses the offices of Accenture Spain. Uniqlo will occupy the first floor of the building, very close to the Nuevos Ministerios interchange and department stores such as El Corte Inglés.
Of all the Uniqlo stores in Madrid – it currentlyhas two: one on Gran Vía and the other in the Salamanca district –the one on Castellana will be the smallest: it will be 1,420 square meters on three floors. Mark Barnatovic, Uniqlo’s director of operations in Spain, explained in an interview for the newspaper El País that the new store is designed for the local clientele of Chamberí, a district with important shopping areas and offices of large companies.
No wonder Uniqlo’ s expansion in the European market has doubled the pace: Europe was decisive for the Japanese group’s growth between September 2023 and August 2024. The company grew by 44.5% on the continent compared to the previous financial year despite having more stores in the United States.
