As chance would have it, a couple of nights ago I found myself reviewing on a certain platform the adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that Joe Wright made into a film in 2005 -yes, I’m just a girl-. Between dialectical battles, love dramas and period dances, at a certain point a majestic building preceded by a large pond appears before the viewer. And although it is not Pemberley, 1 hour from Madrid there is an enclave that could well be if the film had been shot in our country: La Granja de San Ildefonso where, from this Thursday, begins a new season of water shows in its fountains.
Coinciding with the beginning of Easter, Patrimonio Nacional inaugurates the Season of Fountains 2025, in which there will be more than 50 shows. An annual event that this year kicks off on Thursday, April 17 at 5:30 pm. The rest of the shows during the festivities will be on the following schedule:
- Friday and Saturday: at 17:30h.
- Sunday: at 12h
Fountain lightings the rest of the year.
The ignitions to enjoy these water shows will take place on a regular basis on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm and Sundays at 12 noon. There will be two tours, for alternating weeks, which will take visitors through:
- Tour 1: Canastillo, Ranas, Baños de Diana and Fama fountains.
- Tour 2: Canastillo, Ocho Calles, Ranas and Fama.
On the other hand, in July there will be a nocturnal lighting of the Baños de Diana fountain every Saturday at 10 pm and three extraordinary shows with the lighting of the seven fountains: on May 30 (San Fernando), July 25 (Santiago Apostle) and August 25 (San Luis), which will be free of charge.
Tickets for the water shows
To attend it is necessary to purchase a ticket: the price is 5 € and can be purchased through the website of Patrimonio Nacional or directly at the box office of the palace.
