The movement in Madrid is constant. It is common to see how new interchanges are created to connect municipalities, the offer of aid to promote the use of electric bicycles or the arrival of the transport pass to the cell phone.
From September 16 to 22, the new edition of the European Mobility Week (EMW) celebrates in the capital a wide program of activities under the slogan “Mobility for all“. Its aim is to promote sustainable, safe and inclusive transport habits, as explained by the delegate of Urbanism, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabante.
There will be shows, educational workshops for both children and adults, sports activities, exclusive discounts and proposals aimed at caring for the environment. They will not only take place in central locations, but also with the collaboration of the different districts of Madrid.
Roller disco, exhibitions and historical transport.

On Sunday, September 21, Car Free Day will be celebrated , so the stretch from Atocha to Colón will become pedestrian and people will be able to participate in bike circuits, gymkhanas and other workshops. The skating rink located next to Cibeles, where free classes will be given, including dancing on wheels as in a real roller disco.
As a novelty, this year joins the cab sector and you can see an exhibition that reflects the evolution of these vehicles from antiquity until now. In the same line, there will also be another exhibition of 10 historical buses, with Pegaso models from 1971 and 1974.
On the part of the municipal police, there will not only be workshops on road safety education, but also an exhibition of their drones so that citizens can understand how they are used in emergency situations, environmental control and security. In addition, they have organized two mobility circuits: one for tricycles, bicycles and scooters for children and another one for adults with Bicimad electric bicycles.
Free Bicimad and more discounts

Bicimad and bicipark will be free on Monday, September 22 to encourage their use. This is an initiative of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT Madrid), which also includes a 25% discount on electric recharging and the presentation of EducaBús, a road safety education project in schools.
The Bicimad “cycling passport” will also reward those who complete the route between Plaza de España and El Retiro, which passes through areas such as Cibeles or Callao. At the different bases along the route there will be agents who stamp the passports and, whoever completes it, will get a flat rate voucher for the use of Bicimad for a month.
In the case of cabs, they join the discounts for the European Mobility Week through the app Pide Taxis. The first 10,000 bookings from September 15 to 22 will get a 3 euro discount on their next trip.
Movement in green spaces

Casa de Campo is the chosen setting for a 7-kilometer walking route that will take place on Thursday, September 18, with the aim of bringing participants closer to green spaces. And, in the urban area from Recoletos to the Prado, an urban walk will highlight the presence of trees in Madrid and their role as witnesses of the changes in the city.
The different districts of Madrid join this week of mobility with their own programs in neighborhoods, educational centers and cultural spaces. There will be sports activities for all audiences, workshops related to road safety and the environment, educational theaters for children and even concerts such as La banda mocosa in Puente de Vallecas, aimed at families.
