Once again this year, the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) and the COAM Architecture Foundation, together with the Madrid City Council, are organizing a new Architecture Week. This edition, now number 21, will take place from October 4 to 17 and has become one of the appointments marked in red on the calendar during the month of October to (re)discover the city and its buildings.
On this occasion Lima and Peru will be the guest city and country. They will present and analyze their architectural and artistic heritage,“a reflection of the encounter of two millenary cultures and their dialogue,” says the COAM, and an exhibition will be dedicated to them: Lima húmeda. Metropolitan landscapes through the cycles, spaces and inhabitants of water.
The exhibitions are just one of the legs of the extensive program of an event in which, as usual, there will also be family activities, events and conferences… In addition to guided tours and urban routes that are always so well received by the public. All activities are free of charge.
Architecture Week Program
Some of the guided tours included this year are the remodeling of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the Reggio School, palaces such as Godoy or Buenavista, the San Isidro Cemetery, the Fernando Higueras Foundation and the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute (Corona de Espinas).
As for the urban routes, there are those focused on the industrial heritage of Usera, on Neoclassical Madrid, on the tiles of the city or on the figure of the architect Gutiérrez Soto, to mention a few. The complete program can be consulted at this link.
How to register for the Architecture Week activities?
Registration for the different activities will open next Monday, September 23 at 9 am online and from 10 am in person at Calle Hortaleza, 63.
