It seems a question of coherence: if the bookstore -and publishing house- Altamarea was born as an independent and neighborhood space in Arganzuela, the first literature and publishing festival it organizes, Back to the Book, had to share that same vocation. And so it will do so this weekend, from September 13 to 15.
The chosen venue, obviously, had to be in the neighborhood: it will be La Casa del Lector de Matadero (Paseo de La Chopera, 14) and will bring together authors, publishers and readers around “the most powerful proposals of the independent publishing scene,” according to the organization in a press release.
Admission is completely free and, in addition to being able to buy books, those who come will be able to attend different activities, signings and have a snack at the beer bar or a specialty coffee from Dot Café, neighbors of the bookstore. All accompanied by music from different DJs.
