The Plaza de las Parejas, the place where kings and queens of Spain used to watch the most important events and festivities of Aranjuez from their impressive palace, hosts a free festival in October that features twelve hot air balloons as protagonists.
The Aranjuez Balloon Festival has been held for ten years in the Madrid city. To celebrate it, The Balloon Company, organizer of the aerial experience, announced last September 20 that there would be limited places (not free) to travel in the balloons of the festival.
Although passes are flying (never better said), balloon rides can still be booked via email (info@dejatevolar.es). Those with a fear of heights can enjoy the event for free from the ground.
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October are the days that Aranjuez has chosen to fill its sky with giant balloons. There will be simultaneous takeoffs on Saturday morning, around 8:00 am, and in the afternoon, around 17:00 pm. On Sunday the activity will be repeated only in the morning. In addition, the festival will be the center of attention during the Magic Night (Saturday at 20:30 h), when the balloons will light up like flying lanterns and dance to the rhythm of the music.
Information for the visit
The organizers recommend being at the Plaza de las Parejas a few minutes before takeoffs, as the balloons reach the sky in less than an hour. On the other hand, it should be noted that all schedules are tentative and will not be confirmed until two days before the festival due to weather conditions. It is advisable to be attentive through the social networks of The Balloon Company to be aware of possible changes.
