Madrid leads the ranking of cities with the best hospitals in the country. This has been demonstrated by the analysts of the Hospital Experience Index (IEH), who score from 0 to 1 the public and private healthcare centers with the greatest commitment to quality in Spain. In 2024, three hospitals in the capital ranked at the top of the list, beating important centers in Valencia and Barcelona.
The IEH rates healthcare centers according to the qualifications of their staff, investments in technology and infrastructure and the patient care model among other criteria related to innovation and user experience. This year, 2,250 healthcare professionals -from different hospitals- were surveyed for the final evaluation.
This year’s winners were Fundación Jiménez Díaz (0.998 points), La Paz ( 0.995) and Gregorio Marañón (0.989), in that order. In the top ten there are two other hospitals from Madrid: H. U. Clínico San Carlos in fifth position (0.981) and Quirónsalud (0.958) in tenth.
The Hospital Universitario Fundación Jiménez Díaz has received the highest recognition from IEH researchers for the integration of care, teaching and research as the center of its activity; the efficient use of technology; its good results in waiting times; its commitment to the humanization of care and its ability to attract great health professionals (such as the cardiologist Borja Ibáñez Cabezas or the allergist Joaquín Sastre Domínguez).
