After the success of last year’s event, the Madrid Comic Fair is holding its second edition from March 26 to 29, 2026, at Matadero (Plaza de Legazpi, 8), in the Arganzuela district. The event will once again bring together lovers of the ninth art at this pioneering monographic book fair, which covers every genre and medium imaginable: from manga to superhero comics and fanzines.
On this occasion, the central theme of the second edition of the Madrid Comic Fair—curated by cultural journalist Laura Barrachina—will be “a journey through the main cities of European comics,“in which Madrid plays a role as a meeting point and crossroads between various graphic traditions.
“We are approaching this edition not as a closed map, but as a journey that allows us to talk about comics today, about what unites and differentiates us as a continent,” explains Laura Barrachina, who also serves as a narrative and cultural tool for reflecting on European identity through comics.
Program for the Madrid Comic Fair 2026

As in last year’s edition, the fair is based on two main pillars: commercial and cultural. With regard to the former, there will be 60 stands in the Plaza de Matadero, hosting a total of 85 exhibitors. These include specialist bookshops such as Akira Cómics, other generalist bookshops such as Altamarea, and publishers such as Astiberri.
As for the second part, the cultural aspect, activities have been programmed in different spaces at Matadero, including new formats compared to last year, such as a cosplay contest on March 28 and the exhibition Belgian Comics at the Casa del Lector.
These will be complemented by talks such as El viaje por la ciudad (The Journey Through the City ) with authors Juan Berrio, Mauro Entrialgo, and Ilu Ros (March 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Auditorium), various masterclasses, podcasts and live radio, workshops for both children and adults, and film screenings.
All activities are free, except for the Cineteca screenings. The complete program can be found on the Madrid Comic Fair website.
