
“Outside there are beautiful things” and, next May 2, in addition to hamburgers, soccer or mothers, to the list will be added several free outdoor concerts on the occasion of the regional festivities commemorating the uprising of the people of Madrid in 1808.
Among the artists who are known to take the stage of the esplanade of the Puente del Rey -where the bulk of the performances will be concentrated- are Carolina Durante, Camela, Maximiliano Calvo and Sanguijuelas del Guadiana. Their concerts will be on the following dates:
- Sanguijuelas del Guadiana. Thursday, May 1 at 19:30h.
- Carolina Durante. Thursday, May 1st at 21:30h.
- Maximiliano Calvo. Friday, May 2 at 20h.
- Camela. Friday, May 2 at 21:30h.
There will also be space, of course, for Madrid folklore, and as a counterpoint to the above proposals will be other performances such as the Association of Choirs and Dances Francisco de Goya or a zarzuela Gala of the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid.
Program of the May 2nd festivities
The free outdoor concerts for May 2 are not the only proposal of the Community of Madrid to commemorate this important date. Among the options offered by the program of activities are theater and music in other venues such as the Teatros del Canal and museums have also been added with different exhibitions.
Of course, there will also be the traditional parade and historical recreation of this episode: it will be on May 2 at 17:30h on the esplanade of the Puente del Rey. You can check the full program at this link.
Other free concerts for May 2nd: Vermú Session
Within the program there is also the free concert series Sesión Vermú, which will feature performances in different municipalities of the Community of Madrid until May 4, 2025.
