Beyond specific moments, such as the celebration of the St. Patrick or visits to one of the irish pubs that dot the streets of the city, there are not so many occasions or places where Irish culture plays a leading role in the capital. That’s why the opportunity to attend three free Irish folk concerts this weekend in Madrid can be considered an opportunity not to be missed.
It will be at the Juan March Foundation (Castelló Street, 77), in the Salamanca neighborhood, on the occasion of Irish Folk, the first cycle that the institution dedicates to the genre, in collaboration with Culture Ireland.
The series will take place on Saturdays from May 11 to 25 and all of them will be held at the same time: at 12 noon.
The three concerts of the Irish folk music series
- Saturday, May 11. Ancestral melodies that shake the world. With one of the most legendary voices of Irish folk: Karan Casey.
- Saturday, May 18. Folk woven with violin. Martin Hayes will perform traditional tunes on solo fiddle.
- Saturday, May 25. Living essence: Folk in another skin, with Daoirà Farrell Trio. It will focus on showing a different side of this traditional music, with melodies performed by Daoirà Farrell, renowned for his powerful voice and skill playing the bouzouki.
How to get tickets?
All concerts, as we say, are free admission, but it is necessary to book in advance. The procedure can be done from a week in advance through the website of the Juan March Foundation or 1 hour in advance of the event at the box office.
On the other hand, for those who cannot attend or are left without a ticket, it will be possible to watch the concerts live on Canal March and YouTube.
