The high quality of Madrid’ s cultural offer is indisputable. The inhabitants of the capital have the opportunity to visit some of the most important museums in Europe for a more than affordable price. Sometimes even for free. One of the dates when you can take the opportunity to see the best works of art that the Community of Madrid treasures without spending anything is October 12, Día de la Hispanidad.
In 2024, Hispanidad brings with it dozens of concerts, sports tournaments, tastings of typical Latin American dishes and, as every year, free admission to nine museums and eight Royal Sites.
Joining the cultural initiative for the National Day are Madrid’ s great museums: the Prado, the Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Reina Sofia. Those who continue the list are the National Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Decorative Arts, the Museum of America and the Museum of Anthropology.
The Museo del Romanticismo and the Cerralbo, two of the most curious museums in the city, will also participate. Under the concept of house-museum, they are in charge of preserving the artistic and historical legacy of the 19th and early 20th centuries in Spain.
The Royal Sites that are included in the list of free places to visit during the National Holiday are the Royal Palace of Madrid (floor of the Royal Armory), the Monastery of the Descalzas Reales, the Campo del Moro Gardens, the Royal Palace of El Pardo, the Royal Monastery of the Incarnation, the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and the Valley of Cuelgamuros.
