Transport pass prices for 2025 in Madrid will maintain their discount next year. The official confirmation by the competent authorities finally dispels, a few days before the end of the year, the uncertainty about this issue. But the 60% discount is not the only one from which Madrileños and Madrileñas will be able to benefit in terms of mobility: there is a way to get three years of free public transport.
This is due to a measure that the Community of Madrid published in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM) on November 25, according to which those who scrapped their vehicle without environmental label can benefit from three years of free public transport in the C2 fare zone -here you can check the territory it covers-. The document containing the regulation can be consulted at this link.
The regional government, however, offers up to three other alternatives in exchange for deregistering a polluting car. Namely:
- The granting of zero-emission mobility environmental bonds worth €1,250. They allow the use of shared mobility services(carsharing and motosharing).
- The granting of an aid of 1,000 euros.
- The granting of an aid of 2,000 euros, in the event that a vehicle of category M1 or N1 with an ECO or 0 environmental label is also acquired.
Requirements for access to free public transport
In order to be eligible for the aid, vehicles must:
- Be category M1 or N1.
- Be registered in Spain.
- Not have the environmental badge of the Dirección General de Tráfico.
- To be up to date with the payment of the tax of mechanical traction vehicles corresponding to the last annuity.
- As for the applicant, it must have been its holder in the Vehicle Registry of the General Directorate of Traffic since at least January 1, 2021.
Who can benefit from this measure?
The following groups may benefit from the aid for the scrapping of vehicles without an environmental sticker:
- Individuals.
- Self-employed professionals (corresponding to the Special Scheme for Self-Employed Workers of the Social Security) who carry out their economic activity in low-emission areas of municipalities in the Community of Madrid at the time of scrapping the vehicle for which the subsidy is requested.
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that carry out their economic activity in low-emission areas of municipalities in the Community of Madrid at the time of scrapping the vehicle for which the subsidy is requested.
