The outlet fever doesn’t let up in Madrid: from the neighborhood of cheap stores in Rivas to the shopping area of San Sebastián de los Reyes, we find a lot of offers to save half of what we would normally spend on the shopping cart (and other necessities).
This month it is Torrejón’s turn to open an outlet: HalfPrice is opening a new store in Oasiz on February 28. The Polish chain, known for its off-price business model, will have a 4,500 square meter store in the shopping center. On the opening day, there will be live music and special discounts for the first 100 customers.
How does HalfPrice work?
HalfPrice has a network of buyers who get products from past seasons or that can’t come out of inventory due to overstock (occurs when companies have more items than they can sell efficiently) thanks to interaction with designers from around the world.
Their off-price model allows them to lower the prices of their items, most of them from brands such as Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Adidas or Levi’s. Although fashion apparel is the star of its inventory, the chain also sells home décor, toys, pet supplies and snacks.
The chain, which opened its first store in Puerto Venecia, the shopping resort in Zaragoza, arrives in Madrid with the aim of expanding throughout the peninsula: it plans to open 50 stores in Madrid and 10 in Portugal over the next few years.
