One of the main public events during Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Madrid will be the Holy Mass in Plaza de Cibeles this Sunday, June 7, at 10 a.m., followed by the Corpus Christi procession through the neighborhood streets. However, for those wishing to attend the event, preparations begin well in advance.
First of all, to attend Holy Mass, you must register in advance. You can do so by filling out the form available at this link. Once you have registered, the organizers will send a confirmation email indicating your assigned section.
Depending on your assigned sector, access to the Mass at Cibeles will be via one street or another. Access points will open very early, at 7:00 a.m., and you’ll need to present the QR code from your ticket when entering. The Mass is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. and end around 12:15 p.m.
Which street should you use to access the Mass at Cibeles?
Depending on the section you have been assigned (on the left), you will need to access the area via the following streets; it is recommended that you arrive well in advance:

Transportation to Cibeles on Sunday
When attending Mass, it is essential to keep in mind that, following changes to the mobility plan, seven metro stations will be closed on June 7:
- Retiro (Line 2)
- Bank of Spain (Line 2)
- Seville (Line 2)
- Velázquez (Line 4)
- Serrano (Line 4)
- Colón (Line 4)
- Chueca (Line 5)
This way, you can take the metro to Sol station (via lines 1, 2, and 3) and continue the route on foot, with attendees directed through the different access points assigned when they reserved their ticket. You can also reach Sol by commuter rail (Cercanías) via lines C-3 and C-4. Additionally, you can check available parking lots on this map.
Additionally, some EMT bus routes—which have been free since June 3 and will remain so until Tuesday, June 9— may experience disruptions and service interruptions due to the Mass. These are the following: 001, 002, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, 29, 32, 34, 37, 40, 43, 44, 45, 46, 50, 51, 52, 53, 59, 61, 63, 65, 74, 75, 85, 86, 102, 133, 146, 147, 148, 149, 150, 152, C03, C1, C2, E1, M1, M3, and Airport Express.
What should (and what can) you bring to the Mass at Cibeles?
As mentioned, you must present the QR code from your ticket upon arrival. It is also recommended that you protect yourself from the heat with hats or scarves, and bring sunscreen, food, and water in plastic bottles.
As for permitted items, you may bring a medium-sized backpack, a portable chair, folding umbrellas or parasols, banners or flexible flags, and “anything that does not disturb your neighbors.”
Additionally, the following items are not permitted: alcoholic beverages, thermoses, sharp objects, sparklers or firecrackers, sticks longer than 1 meter, portable batteries, and anything else that may disturb those around you.
At the end of the event, the organizers ask that you clear the area as quickly as possible “so that the neighborhood can return to normal and residents can rest.”
