As it does every September, the Indyspensable Festival returns to Villaverde, offering a very special opportunity to discover new voices from the independent music scene. It’s also a chance to enjoy concerts by established artists; past editions have featured acts such as Hinds, La Bien Querida, Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, Los Punsetes, and Love of Lesbian, among many others.
The festival, organized by the Villaverde municipal council, is celebrating its 21st edition this year. “I think we’ve put together a diverse, intergenerational, and appealing lineup, ”said the festival’s programmer, Nacho Ruiz Bartolomé, in X. Ruiz Bartolomé also emphasized that it is a“freeevent, with no capacity limits, and located away from the city center.”
Until last Monday, the 21st, the name of the band that would headline the Indyspensable Festival had been kept a secret. It’s no longer a mystery: it’s Dorian, the Barcelona-based synth-pop group with electronic and new wave influences that made it onto the charts with songs like “La Tormenta De Arena ” and “Cualquier Otra Parte.”
Rounding out the lineup are some of the most acclaimed acts on the Spanish independent music scene in recent years, such as Shego, Camellos, Cora Yako, Pipiolas, and Jimena Amarillo, who will close out the festival.
On Sunday, there will also be time for several young all-female bands from the local and national alternative scene: Nenazas, Tronkas! ( winners of the Villa de Madrid Rock Award in 2025), and La 126 (hailing from Elche).
