The flowering of lavender in Brihuega is one of the most awaited natural spectacles of the summer: thousands of hectares of fields are covered with the purple color and aroma of these flowers, creating a scene that has earned this town in the region of La Alcarria, in Guadalajara, the nickname of the Spanish Provence – and, this year, to be one of the 10 finalist towns for the “Spanish Provence” award Capital of Rural Tourism 2024-.
Precisely in this environment, and coinciding with the peak of flowering, the Brihuega Lavender Festival will be held with two unique concerts at sunset on July 12 and 13. The artists who will perform this year with the purple fields and the sunset as a backdrop will be Maldita Nerea (July 12) and Rozalén (July 13) at 8:45 pm.
The organizers recommend the public to dress in white and wear comfortable shoes and warm clothes at night. The tickets, which are already on sale, include access to the foodtracks and bar area, which will be open from 6:30 pm until 1 am.
Prices are as follows:
- General admission tickets: 50€
- Preferred ticket: 70€
All ticket information can be found at the web page of the event.
how to get to the Brihuega lavender field?
The Brihuega lavender field is located at PK 7.7 of the GU 925 road towards Olmeda del Extremo, Brihuega – GPS coordinates are 40º45’27 “n 2º47’9 “w- and it is recommended to go in good time to avoid traffic jams. From Madrid the distance is about 100 kilometers, so the trip can be done by car in just over an hour.
On the other hand, in order to keep the lavender plants and fields in good condition – which begin to be mowed once the flowers take on a grayish tone, usually between late July and early August – those who come to enjoy the festival are asked not to pluck the flowers and to keep the field clean of debris.
