To pay tribute to the volunteers who mobilized to help the Valencian people after the passage of the DANA and the victims of the floods, the sports association MAPOMA and the Community of Madrid will organize a solidarity race on Sunday, December 1.
The race will start at Paseo de Recoletos at 9:00 am. All participants will receive a solidarity bib, a T-shirt and a virtual solidarity diploma after registration, which costs 12.60 euros. The amount goes entirely to those affected by the DANA, who three weeks after the tragedy still need heavy machinery to clear streets and garages.
Those who can not make the route have the option of buying the ‘dorsal 0’, which allows you to make a donation equal to or greater than 10 € for the victims of the floods (does not include official shirt).
How to register?
To register you must enter the Rock The Sport website. Once inside the Madrid Corre por Valencia section, click on the ‘Inscripciones’ button on the home page. There are three types of courses: the 10 km (for over 16 years old), the 5 km (for all ages) and the 2 km family walk (ideal for children).
Once the race has been chosen, the page leads to a form that asks for name, surname, address, size (to purchase the runner’s T-shirt) and the organization to which the registration money is to be donated. In this last section, you can choose between Red Cross, Caritas Spain or the solidarity account of the Generalitat Valenciana.
Aid to Valencia from Madrid
Madrid has hosted spaces in which those who have not been able to travel to Valencia as volunteers have had the opportunity to do their bit. Days after the tragedy, initiatives of all kinds were announced on the streets: from massive collections of supplies to solidarity concerts of live music. Currently, the hospitality sector maintains projects that raise funds for the Valencian Community. Some of them are by well-known chefs such as José Andrés or Dabiz Muñoz.
