Public transport timetables in Madrid (from metro to buses) will undergo important changes during the New Year’s Eve (December 30 and 31) and New Year’s Eve (January 1) festivities, as already happened during the most important dates of Christmas last week.
As happens every year, the suburban network and the bus fleet of the Empresa Municipal de Transportes (EMT), but also the interchanges and some BiciMad stations, will be subject to measures such as reduced schedules.
There will also be changes in frequencies and special service lines. Below, we have compiled all the information you should have at hand to move around the capital by public transport during these days.
Metro de Madrid Timetables on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve

As is customary at this time of year, in view of the large number of passengers expected on the occasion of the pre-New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Eve chimes, Sol metro station will be closed on December 30 and 31 from 6 p.m. until the end of the service.
The following day, on New Year’s Day (January 1, 2026), the service will be resumed throughout the network at 7 am. It is also worth remembering that until January 6th a special reinforcement device will be active on the metro between 10 am and 11 pm.
This will increase the frequency on the six busiest suburban lines: L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 and L10.
