Work on the Santiago Bernabéu Metro station, as we reported last week, is nearing completion: according to the underground company, more than 40% of the work has already been completed, and a new phase of the process will begin on March 28 , involving the temporary closure of line 10.
The closure will be between Nuevos Ministerios and Cuzco, and it will not be brief: it is expected to last until the end of the year, given that this new phase of the project “is incompatible with the normal operation of L10,” according to Metro de Madrid.
In view of this situation, the metropolitan company has announced that it will provide a free bus service to cover the affected section. This alternative will also include Plaza de Castilla in its route, in order to “guarantee mobility at this point in the capital.”
Buses to get around during the closure of metro line 10

The alternative mentioned will consist of 10 vehicles from the Madrid Municipal Transport Company (EMT), which will run approximately every three to five minutes. At the same time, service will be reinforced on both line 1 and line 9 to facilitate passenger travel.
In addition to this arrangement, the route is also covered by other regular EMT bus lines: lines 27 and 147.
The renovation of the Santiago Bernabéu station

The renovation project for this station has an investment of 66 million euros, and the work includes adapting it to make it 100% accessible with the installation of 12 elevators and 24 escalators.
The new design will include nods to the history of Real Madrid and is expected to be inaugurated “during the first quarter of 2027, coinciding with the 125th anniversary of the founding of the club and the 80th birthday of its stadium.”
