Having a healthy diet has become the new goal of 21st century society. However, many do not know that to achieve it you have to pay attention to details such as the container where it is served.
“Uncertified ceramics may contain lead or cadmium, which affect the nervous or renal system,” comment the owners of Mitu, a new ceramic store in Andrés Mellado (number 8), through their Instagram account. “And plastic plates are worse: when heated they can release toxic substances, altering hormones and metabolism,” they say.
At Mitu – from the Quechua word mi’tu, which means clay – we find totally handmade Portuguese ceramic tableware. Their products come from family workshops that have developed the art of pottery generation after generation.
The store has plates, cups, crockery and unique objects to decorate the house. It has a section of products by weight in which we can take a kilo of products for 8 euros.

Portuguese ceramics never go out of style: the city is full of stores that offer handmade tableware by weight. A Mercadoria is one of the most viral (and accessible, because it has stores both in the capital and in other nearby municipalities), and Julietta one of the cheapest in the center.
