Boldú began as a family bakery in the neighborhood of Gràcia (Barcelona) and ended up becoming a consolidated brand of artisan sweets in the country. Its specialty is a doll-shaped bun, similar in design to the famous gingerbread cookie, called Bolduman (and if it’s a girl, Boldugirl), which each diner can customize with their favorite toppings and fillings.
Bolduman-donuts have just landed at number 14 Alberto Aguilera street, making this spot a must stop for pastry lovers. The dough of their berlinas is fermented for twenty-four hours to get that tender texture that distinguishes it. Of all the Bolduman , the pistachio and dark chocolate fillings stand out for their filling, two classic flavors that never fail.
Boldú is a pastry shop and cafeteria, so we can sit at one of their tables to taste their famous berlinas. Each Bolduman (or Boldugirl) in original size costs 3.10 euros. There are boxes of two (7.5 euros) and four (14 euros) to share or try various combinations, and other more creative(Celebration Boxes) for a special occasion: Love You Box, Birthday Party Box, Miss You Box, Me Caso Box and more.
In addition to berlinas, the bakery has sourdough bread, specialty coffee, classic donuts, muffins, ensaimadas, tartlets, croissants and, in short, everything you would expect from a place to have breakfast or a snack.
Pastry shops that conquer Madrid
It is no secret that Madrid has many places with a sweet taste. There are French pastry shops with delicious meringues; old cafes with typical desserts of the city and even places specializing in Japanese cakes.
